It was very much in the vein of Paranormal Activity and/or Blair Witch type of horror, but it gave me chills many times and had some good surprises. Six friends hire a medium to hold a sance via Zoom during lockdown but they get far more than they bargained for as things quickly go wrong. Movies like Ari Aster's Hereditary and Midsommar, and similar horror films produced by A24, broke new ground in the genre at the turn of the decade, and it's clear that viewers love these slow-burn, psychological films that touch on our deepest fears. While some may denounce the influx of remakes and reboots, it's easy to see that the genre is more alive than ever as legacy sequels pave the future of horror. The influx of new styles and the return of slasher classics have helped bridge the gap between old and new generations of horror fans. It's no secret that horror movies have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years.
